Froward Point nr Dartmouth/scabbacombe

I've been on a recky today trying to get access to a place called Pudstone cove nr Froward point nr Dartmouth. The cove lies between Froward point and Scabbacombe. I went to Collaton Fishacre house and gardens and the receptionist said that access to this area has been closed off due to dangerous rock conditions. Also the gardens are not open to the public until March and even then you would have to pay a £5 entry fee.
Anyway I ended up at Froward point where the old second world war gun placement is, It looks like you can get down to the rocks here but I'm not exactly sure.
The place I want to get to is the Pudstone cove area as there appears to be a very deep channel as seen from an aerial map.
Has anybody been here and if so where's the best place to get safe access to it.
I think you must be able to get to it from the South West Coastal path but having walked about 1 1/2 on it today the walk may be a bit too long with all the gear.

Pics below are of inner and outer froward point, the outer pic looks towards Pudstone cove.

Pictures courtasy of google.

Re: Froward Point nr Dartmouth/scabbacombe

Theres (as far as I know) 2 ways to this area along the coastal path. the first route took me towards scabbacombe sands and the second was past the daymarker. see pics below.

this is the first style toward scabbacombe sands.

I reckon Pudcombe cove is about 1 1/2 miles from this point and the hills are massive

This is the other route to it (i think).. pass this on your left (infact I drove past it)

I parked just in front of this gate and walked down to the old barrocks

So what I need to find out is...which is the best route round and where is the safe access to the rocks below?
