ewww i hate the breakwater lol always used to fish my junior comps down there. i fished the torbay shield for my club down there aswell.
basically that place is small wrasse and mullet from the inside.
alot of ppl like to fish inside the paintfloats for the mullet (personally i think its rubbish lol) further up the breakwater towards the end you will see a old jetty on the endside this used to moor the longbow which has now gone but the jetty is still there they get conger inside the jetty along with the odd bass and the usuall wrasse and small pollack.
then right on the end by the lighthouse thing this is where the locals do the *breakwater shuffle* lol they all stand in a line cast out to see and depending which way the tide is going they shuffle round with the drift of there float until they reach the end of the drift and then jump off the wall back up the stairs and start again.
too much hard work for me lol.
this month its been very bad in the bay fish wise macky are scarce but i saw 30-40 dolphins last week so that doesnt help but the weather is great!! i heard a report of mullet in the harbour at torquay today so give it a month and they should start to settle down and feed.

anything else u need to know just ask i will try and answer :)

erm yes but just a thought with a dodgy knee the breakwater is 3/4 of a mile long damn long walk with all your gear to the end
im not sure about the bass yet but i heard a report from a friend that he went out in torbay last week just for a cruise (he is more a yuppie than a fisherman* but he likes to try and catch fish so hung a string of feathers over the back and hooked up some launce.
i have shown him the basics of bass fishing in the bay and so he used the launce for bait and had what he said was a big silver fish but it dropped off as he was lifting it into the boat. so guess we will never know but its a sign that maybe the bass are begining to show.

just another thought do you have a orange disabled badge?
if so you can drive down to berry head quarry there is a flat platform down there just as good as the breakwater and much less of a walk. failing that take a walk along torquay harbour and speak to the harbour master explain u have a bad knee and a orange badge he may let u drive to the end of haldon pier and fish there.
i know he has done this in the past for friends of mine.
