Fishing Plymouth devon Student

Hello,
I only just recently just started to fish and i cant get enough of it. I normally fish in kent with a friend when I can but since I am a student in Plymouth, I was curious if anyone could tell me when and where are the best places to fish. Also any tackle and bait shops you guys would suggest. Any help would be very much appreciated.
