Hi Mark. There's a couple of good beaches in Exmouth, but it depends on what you're after and how far you're prepared to travel. Sandy bay beach itself is worth a shout, plus you can stagger back up to the van with no problems. The next town down the coast is Budleigh, and this can be worth a shout for the odd Bass and the mackie. Then there's Ladram bay (Stay near the left hand rock stack), but can get quite busy at this time of year, and it's not the biggest beach in the world. About a 20/25 min drive is Sidmouth, with a beach called Jacobs Ladder. This can be good for schoolie Bass and Small Eyed Ray (Not that I'd know anything about them!), try about 100/200 yards down the beach from the platform.

There are quite a few reports from these beaches on this forum that you could search for. Ping even did a great write up on Budleigh.

As for the boats, I tend not to get out much on them due to being a landlubber. There are however several top class boat in Exmouth. I'm sure someone should be able to let you know about these in advance.

Any problems/questions give us a shout.

Re: need advice on exmouth

many thanks for the info.. we'll be situ at sandy bay so defo give that a shot! ive read several comments on what sounds like a trek back up from the beach??? i take it theres a bit of a climb? when i get a quieter moment (kids to bed) then ill search this forum as suggested thanx!
im not too bothered on specific target fishin yet! but the missus would be happy with something for the BBQ!!! and we'll be doing a bit of driving/ exploring.... from what ive seen its a wonderfull / beautifull part of the world!
as i have read sandy bay is very popular for bathers etc is it still safe to fish from the shore ? is there a particular area to head to, out the way ?
erm......... also forgot to ask if theres somewhere to buy bait near sandy bay?
thanx again
mark

Re: need advice on exmouth

hi
for bait you either have
exmouth tackle, on strand in main town
also the fishmongers or newsagent near exmouthn docks for sandeel.rag and crab

from sandy bay beach the more you walk right towards exmoth usually the better but watch the tide, also look from top as will be able to see the weed

budliegh will almost cetainly(kiss of death there ) get makkie

cant add much more to baggies reply

ps climb up and down not too bad as is steps anyway

dave

You know, I have wondered why I've had to start booking fishing trips with Ping's social secretary lately. Now it all falls into place. Time is money when you're famous don't cha know. Lovie, darling, lovie.
