Re: Marks in Essex ??????

Hi Guys,

Essex Fishing: You can fish at Tilbury very easily, follow the signs for the Fort or ask somebody where the ' Worlds end pub' is!!! there is a gravel/concrete hard stand and walk up the steps and you will be looking into the Thames. You can fish of the concrete prom but be careful of walker/cyclists. Evening tides are best, 2 hrs up/2hrs down. Big tides are good. Cast out 30-40 yards, but be quick when reeling in as there are rock close in. Do not be tempted to go further than the position where the prom juts out as there is an old wooden pier (long gone) but the posts are still there.

Try the 'point' at Canvey, go to Canvey Tackle shop speak to George he'll help you, sell you bait and tackle. For the 'point' you go to the town and through a caravan park, can't remember road name (ask George). Best times are at night, but the water is very deep (over 80feet) when you cast out to will never believe that you line will stop

Try Harwich, The Halfpenny Pier, but be respectful to the pier because the authorities closed it for sometime after rubbish, line, tackle was discarded by a 'few' bad fishermen. I think you have to pay now, you have to park slightly away from the pier, but it can be worth it. There is another pier in the town up by the lifeboat but I can't remember the name. There is also a sandy beach which is said to be very good (never fished it) very close to the road.

You could always try the River Blackwater or Crouch, Sth Fambridge or try a boat trip, there are some very good skippers down at Bradwell on Sea, Dave Godwin, John Rawle.

Hope this helps

Tight Lines
