Barramundi Quest

I haven't caught a barramundi yet and I really want to...

BUT I have to take a bus to an estuary where there are reports of barra in the area (its a 4 hour travel but that's the closest I can find). Anyway, this is my quest to hunt one of the fishes in my wishlist...

Happy fishing everyone.

Warning: small fish

Thanks Adam ...

Just arrived...

After doing an ocular inspection for a job 170km south of Dumaguete on my motorbike...the plan was to find new spots and fish on the way back so I brought my light tackle.

I am happy I found one and will fish this area again soon...if not because of the rising tide and the danger of being overrun, I would have fished the area longer. I'm gonna pop for GTs here soon.

Happy fishing everyone.

Pre Work Fishing

Planned to fish for the first time an area we previously scouted but when we got to the the spot both my buddy Ja and I did not pay attention to the tide charts so we were caught up in the spot on a very low tide...anyway this is just a late morning blitz before work with a crystal minnow and testing my new lemax slimmax BC MF action rod...I feel like a million bucks with that rod.

Quicky with Wifey

After bringing our kid to school, my wife Jana said she missed eating a snapper. I asked her if she wants to go with me so we can catch one and she surprisingly agreed (she is scared of the sun). Anyway by 9am we were off to one of my fave spots, in short I had a wonderful time fishing and had a good time bonding with her, good thing the fishing did not disappoint so I went home a happy man and her a proud wife. We ended our fishing trip just in time to pick our Isabella again from school by 11am.

Rod: Lemax SlimMax BC 2pc 6'6" 8-20lb
Reel: Pinnacle Extant Pro
Line: 30lb Suffix with 24" 12lb Invisiline fluorocarbon
Lure: Shimano Triple Impact
Fish: 1.58lb mangrove snapper

Thank you.

Jana for the good timing of filming the strike. Just in time you dropped your pocketbook and caught the action.

and to Gipsy Kings - Forever (Instrumental) for the score

Re: Third World Fishing (A journal)

Here is another vid of me with my daughter and wife on a 2 day trip to Cebu, Philippines, they fished in the ponds while I scraped the river instead.

All fishes released except for 1 of the 3 small cudas (the guard on duty asked for it, hope he did not get ciguatera hehehe).

Re: Third World Fishing (A journal)

Had the opportunity to fish with Dave from England and a few friends in an island an hour from where I live, it was fun and we will be doing it again. Caught with Rapala Xrap Shallow, Rapala MaxRap and a YoZuri Tobimaru. New fishing buddies, weeeeeeeee!

Re: Third World Fishing (A journal)

First day we swam with whale sharks at Oslob, Cebu and did some stunts 500 meters in the sky at Crown Regency Cebu, next day was another fun-filled day that was punctuated with a cuda fest at Papa Kits.

Caught 5 and lost 3.

I also met with Mr. Kenneth Sato of Cebu Kayak Anglers and Sport Fishing Club of Cebu who gave a sackful of clothes as donation for the Sendong victims of Dumaguete. I will deliver the shirts tomorrow at the Dumaguete's local relief station.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH Mr Kenneth Sato for the support.

Happy fishing.

Below is the video report.

Fishing in Siquijor Island on April 6-8, 2012, with my fishing buddy Tibang, caught some coods, groupers and emperor snappers from the rocks and the pier. Camped in a beach somewhere in the island and ate our some of our catches and released the rest.

Had a great time!

Happy fishing!

Mike

P.S.
Bear with the trailer....
I am practicing video editing at the same time so it could be over the top
