Getting ready for Guinea Bissau

Well tickets have arrived and leaving next Friday so its time to start replacing split rings, hooks, making some traces and generally just checking that all is well with everything that i am taking with me is in good order, and i thought that although i hire a tackle pack out there i would just show you what extras that i take to this wonderful destination which holds so many treasures

This place is like no other destination that i have ever had the privilege to fish,There really are MONSTERS out there so with a bit of luck you never know in three weeks time if i am really lucky i might have a nice set of reports to post,
Good luck guys and girls, tight lines and post soon

I even got excited just looking at the pics, and I'm not the one going! I do wish you a very good fishing holiday with plenty of good catches to report when you get back. Kind regards. John R.

Re: Getting ready for Guinea Bissau

From what I know of the people of Guinea Bissau, they're very friendly and hospitable. My partner used to date a guy from there a few years before we met!

Hope you have a great time, good luck and look forward to reading the reports!

Re: Getting ready for Guinea Bissau

Yes Maceo i have been out there before and the people are very friendly,GB is meant to be one of the 5 poorest countrys in the world and it always astounds me that the poorer the country the more friendly the people are
And to try and give you an idea of what we fish for BoilieBoy last time we had, barracuda, red snapper, jacks, ladyfish, pompano, leahfish, tarpon, bla cktip shark, hammerhead shark, grouper,dr fish, stingray, cobia, bonefish, sand shark, ramora,to name but a few and some of these things are massive,Richard who runs these trips keeps telling me that 9 different clients have been hooking a fish (unknown) 8 or 9 times now with a 4-6lb live bait and 10-12 O XXXX Strong hook and between them the guys have played it for 17 odd hours now and still no one has seen this thing and its not a shark as there is never any teeth marks in or on the bait after they have lost it,we think maybe its a goliath grouper which i believe i have hooked into twice while fishing out of the Florida Keys a couple or three years ago but resulted in one snapped rod and the 2nd time i really tightened the clutch to try and stop it running through a oil rig and my line snapped and i ballerina type fell backwards overboard so if i am really really lucky who knows just maybe 3rd time lucky
