| My 6 day Gambia fishing adventure day 5 Up a hour later than usual and definitely suffering from the night before lol still while taking breakfast we notice that there is very little breeze and even the sea resembles a pond, there is no breeze at all and it looks like we are in for a scorcher oh well so up the disco road and bait collecred we are soon back at the river and on our way,on the way down river to the sea i suggest to Brian that maybe we should try going out to sea as it really was a calm day and he agrees and although he had doubled up on the tablets its not long before we have to turn round and head back up river,we stopped at a couple or three places but it is really quiet and because of the wind or lack of it we dont stop at any one place too long,i then had a frogfish and a hour or so later i had a 12oz red snapper but its so hot now that even Fafa and Lamin are struggling with the heat so we decide to troll and even go two miles further upstream than we had previously gone and we anchor up right under the mangroves to take a spot of lunch but it seems even the crabs are not feeding so we set off trolling again but it really was a struggle and as much as we tried we just couldnt tempt anything to take our baits still thats fishing folks the good days wouldnt be if we didnt have bad ones as well, but it was still better than going to work,so we headed back to the camp just enjoying the breeze and even at 5.30pm the temp registering in the van was 43c so god knows how hot it was today and even when we arrived back at the rainbow bar people were saying how hot it had been today So for the first time since we had been fishing we had to buy dinner tonight and washed down with not quite so many julebrews day 6 the last day to follow |
