Question Species Hunt 2007

Sorry to re-open the subject again, but I think that to avoid any confusion, the fish lists for next years species hunt should be the same as the British record fish lists . In the 2006 list, Crucian & Grass carp were left off the list & all carp species were lumped together. Also Goldfish were included. These are not a specific species, but are actually ornamental hybrids. I feel that only the UKs three native or naturalised species of carp should be included:

Common (Cyprinus Carpio) which also covers sub species such as Mirror, Linear & Leather.

Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon Idella)

Crucian Carp Carassius Carassius

What do other members think.

Re: Species Hunt 2007

Not a course angler myself, but seems like a reasonable idea.

And just one other suggestion for all to consider, perhaps all taking part should be regulars posters on the forum, and not just pop n to post in the species hunt .....

Re: Species Hunt 2007

How about a split into sea and fresh, as some of our regular posters are only sea anglers and some are mainly coarse then it might make it a bit more of an even field.

also as we have a smallish list of coarse fish it could also be won by the first team to reach all the fish on the list!!

I go with the regular posters bit for the teams too, we could even get a couple of points for the other team members we catch on film fishing at the mini meets!! Sort of social points, and it might encourage all to meet up a bit more often.

Smile Re: Species Hunt 2007

I think that by having a mixed species hunt of coarse sea & game fish, it encourages Sea & Freshwater anglers to team up & hopefully meet up to learn more about each others diciplines. I'm all for encouraging members to turn up for mini meets though. The social side of things is what makes this Forum so great.
