No, both just do your normal fishing and hopefully nab a few different species, take a photo and watch the points mount up (or not as the case may be). But, its more fun to get together to try for certain species, watch out for fish-ins, get togethers and informal open invitations on the forum.

The "Race" lasts all year and is a bit of fun covering freshwater and saltwater (obviously the salty types have it far easier and can catch zillions of weird species at a drop of a hat - or dropping a piece of spare scaffolding and grappling irons off the back of a boat ).

Separate "tables" for freshwater and saltwater make interesting viewing!
